Half-Life Alyx

Half-Life Alyx, will be a staple in the VR community. With the following that Half-Life already has, I'm sure this would be a fantastic selling point for arcades everywhere. I understand this might be difficult (with the concept of a story-driven game, in an arcade) however I believe given the right demographic, that we would have multiple people coming to experience what lovers of the Half-Life series have been waiting 10+ years for.

Any update on this?

Would be great to have this as we get asked by customers for this every week.
But we need a process to keep players save games so they can continue where they left off. Been working on a script that will launch the steam title, monitor the running process. Then when the process stops, copy the save folder to a storage folder renamed with a date and time stamp.
So the next time a customer comes in i can restore their last save.

I’d still like to think that we could get a PPM rate, but it’s $60 one time on steam cafe. I’ve already got it on 2 stations, but a PPM would be epic.

Did we ever get an answer back regarding the pricing?
I know a moot point but we want to be ready for reopenings.

Valve just confirmed commercial license via Steam Cafe program available on launch day!
Francisco Fernandez
Peter Laurent: Now we wait for the pricing. Come on one-time purchase! Fingers crossed*
Francisco Fernandez
Peter Laurent It's a long shot, but could you ask them if they already have a set proce for the commercial license? It"d be nice to be able to advertise this leading uo to the release day instead of wondering if the price is even affordable
Peter Laurent
Francisco Fernandez: I agree the uncertainty is a bit frustrating, I'll try a return email to see if they respond though yes it's unlikely.
I expect it to be the standard non-discounted price with a lifetime license, since that is what all their other games have for their commercial license.
Francisco Fernandez
Peter Laurent: Honestly, if it's the standard price of $60, for a commercial lifetime license, I'd feel considered very lucky. Considering it's Valve's top dog game, I'm expecting $100 at the very least. I would still be buying them for some stations of course.
Peter Laurent
Francisco Fernandez: This is the reply I got from Valve just now:
"Hi Peter,
Thanks for checking int with us.
The pricing hasn't been locked down 100% yet, but we're aiming to be around or close to the regular end user price. It is not certain yet, if it will be based on a monthly subscription or an upfront fee. However, historically, all Valve titles have offered commercial pricing at the same as retail with an upfront fee, and we're planning to do the same with HL:Alyx.
Best regards,
Finn"
So basically confirming what we already know, which is that nothing is confirmed yet haha
Francisco Fernandez
Peter Laurent: Wow you got quick responses from them nonetheless.
Welp, its only about 9 days away, guess we can just wait. Given the info, it's good to hear that the lifetime license won't be costly. Really hope they decide to take that route.
Please let us know if you find out anything else. This is by far the most interesting content request thread so far. You the man Peter!

This about says it all. Over 2000 comments of people that want to play it but dont have VR.

I’ve already had many customers request this. If this isn’t there, we will be missing a greatly untapped market of people who can’t afford indexes but would be willing to front it on an arcade. I mean if they don’t WANT our money I’ll be happy to just load it from the index purchases and keep all the profits. :D
Peter Laurent
There is no chance this will ever be licensed outside of Steam.
However Valve do have a history of offering lifetime licenses for their own content via the Steam Site Licensing (for example The Lab has a free license on Steam) so hold out hope for that
Alex Berg
Peter Laurent: a steam one time payment deal would be perfect for this
Hunter Lane
Peter Laurent: We'll reach out to them for sure but I also am assuming licensing it outside of Steam is not something Valve will be looking at but doesn't hurt to ask! :D
Lecky Lao
Hunter Lane: Get it through steam keys please!
FNS TECH
Peter Laurent: Yeah please do inquire, explain the reason why some of use want it through the platform, aka the ability to license by time instead of monthly.
Peter Laurent
FNS TECH: Valve don’t license their games monthly, they do lifetime licenses. That is what we should be asking Valve to include with HL: Alyx (and other developers too)
